Institute for Bulgarian Language at the BAS


The Institute for Bulgarian Language at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is the basic centre for research and description of the Bulgarian language - its modern state, history, dialectal variety and connections with the other languages.

The Institute for Bulgarian Language at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is collaborating with the Translation and Revision Centre in producing the database of terms, term combinations, keywords and key expressions from all 20 fields of the EU legislation (acquis communautaire) built-up by the TRC in the process of translating the acquis communautaire.

Ass. Prof. Ivan Ivanov


Ass. Prof. Eng. Ivan Tomov Ivanov – Head of Department “Information Technologies” at the Specialized Higher School for Library Science and Information Technologies. He was involved in the development of software projects, such as BULTRA (the first computer translator in Bulgaria), LIBIS™ (library information system), WEBIS™ (information system for the management and monitoring of the teaching process); he is the author of the web application of the Project “Comprehensible Bulgaria”, etc. He is the author of 14 training textbooks and manuals and more than 30 articles in the field of Informatics and Information Technologies.
