Start of training in working with the European legislation and the specialised terminology used there, oriented towards the officials from the State administration

Date: 16-03-2009

PomagaloSince 16 March 2009, the Translation and Revision Centre began carrying out training in working with databases containing acts of the European legislation, terminological databases in the field of EU law on the Internet and the specialised terminology used there, as well as in working with the European institutions’ websites.

This training is intended for officials from the central, regional and municipal administrations and is implemented as part of the TRC Project „Enhancement of the knowledge and the awareness of the officials from the State administration to work with the European Union legislation” implemented under the Operational Programme “Administrative Capacity” (OPAC), co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund (ESF).

Within three training modules, the civil servants will get familiarized with the facilities for searching, finding and working with the basic documents of the European institutions, their websites and the established terminology in the field of the acquis.

The first training module is oriented towards the databases related to the EU legislation (CCVista, JurisVista and EUR-Lex), containing the basic documents of the European institutions, which form the EU acquis, and the decisions of the European Court of Justice and of Court of First Instance.

The second training module will present the websites of the five main institutions of the European Union (Parliament, Commission, European Council, Court of Justice and Court of Auditors), as well as of the two consultative bodies of the European Union: the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of Regions. In addition there is included information about the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union which plays an important role in translating official documents. The purpose of this training module is to improve the knowledge of the target group both in respect to the functioning and the structure of the European institutions, and in respect to the information, documents, publications and terminological databases contained on their websites.

The third training module is oriented towards familiarization with the terminological databases in the field of the acquis communautaire, which are accessible via the Internet.

One of the important accents in this module is the ELECTRONIC MULTILINGUAL DATABASE OF TERMS, TERM COMBINATIONS, KEYWORDS AND KEY EXPRESSIONS in four languages – Bulgarian, English, French and German, created by the Translation and Revision Centre. Information will be provided about the manner, in which the search engine has been structured, as well as about the methods of search by keywords and by fields of acquis. The training module will enable the civil servants to improve their effectiveness in fulfilling their everyday duties, by observing the unity and conformity of the terminology entering the Bulgarian language as a result of the accession of Republic of Bulgaria to the European Union.

THESE TRAININGS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED BY THE TRANSLATION AND REVISION CENTRE on the basis of the study, analysis and identification of the needs of training for the officials from the central, regional and municipal administrations, concerning subjects and issues related to working with databases in the field of the European legislation, which have been carried out within the project.

The organisation of carrying out the training modules was realized together with the Institute of Public Administration (IPA), which is a partner of TRC within the Project „Enhancement of the knowledge and the awareness of the officials from the State administration to work with the European Union legislation” implemented under OPAC.
